The  Science of  Wakey!

Does Wakey! work?

A 12-week study (a feasibility trial) took place from January to April 2020 to track and trace the effectiveness of Wakey! users on 6 health outcomes:

  1.  Life satisfaction

  2.  Life being worthwhile

  3.  Happiness

  4.  Anxiety

  5.  Self-efficacy

  6.  Sleep

The data collected proved that users of Wakey! demonstrated improvements on:

  1. life satisfaction

  2. ease of getting out of bed in the morning

  3. feeling that life was worthwhile

  4. self-efficacy

Insights from the interviews with users

Participants of the study were interested in Wakey! because...

  • it seemed different

  • they liked drag queens

  • they thought it provided a different approach to waking up and addressing mental health issues

 

The overall response to the app was very positive with users describing it as both fun and entertaining whilst offering practical advice on mental wellbeing...

Summary

Almost every participant found positive changes as a result of

using Wakey!, including:

  • improvements to sleep

  • developing a helpful routine

  • finding it easier to get out of bed in the mornings

  • reduced stress
